The perks of owning 'Portal 2' for PlayStation 3, according to Valve

Valve Software has shed light on some of the features PlayStation 3 owners of the action puzzle game Portal 2 can expect when the game hits stores in April.

The PS3 version will include support for Valve's online service, Steam, which brings a host of options such as cross-platform chat and cross-platform play, meaning PS3 players can play with PC and Mac users.

It will also feature cloud-based storage of saved games for the PS3 as well as unlock a Steam Play copy of the game. Once players link their Steam and PlayStation Network accounts, they will be able to play on PS3 and then pick up where they left off on either a PC or Mac.

"We designed the Portal 2 PS3 experience to be very straightforward for gamers," said Portal 2 project lead Josh Weier in a statement. "PS3 gamers will be able to simply drop the Blu-ray disc in the PS3, link to their Steam account from inside the game, and all their Steam friends (on PC and Mac) will be visible and accessible for chat and game invites."

The game, which will also be available on Xbox 360, launches April 21.
